Type Hike

Creative Direction, Exhibit Coordination, & Design
Self-Initiated, 2016-2020

Created by ︎︎︎David Rygiol and myself to celebrate the NPS Centennial, Type Hike is a collaborative nonprofit design project that celebrates and supports the outdoors through typographic-focused posters. Designers were invited to contribute in their own typographic voice, creating a contemporary collection of over 150 posters, which were sold with 100% of proceeds benefitting charitable partners.

The project began with National Parks (NPS100), expanding to include National Seashores & Recreation Areas (SHORES), endangered animals (ALPHABEAST), Mars (MARS), and the Gateway Arch (ARCH).

In addition to posters, the project self-published (3) books, exhibited across the country, partnered with NASA sending kids to space camp, collaborated with REI and Topo Designs, and provided opportunities for talks at TypeCon 2018, PechaKucha Austin #29, AIGA Louisville, and several universities.
